I graduated in Light Music Piano with Willem Kühne and Frans van Grinsven and Classical Piano minor with Gé Audenaerde at the Brabant Conservatory. With pianist/composer Jan Laurens Hartong I specialized in Cuban and Brazilian music. With "Perfume de Salsa" I played for 9 years at major festivals at home and abroad, such as the North Sea Jazz and the Drum & Rhythm Festival and with Peter Weekers (flutist Flairck) and Francis Goya (guitarist) I have performed with great pleasure in many theaters in the Netherlands and Belgium.
"SOUL" in the broadest sense of the word is paramount for me.
In my own way I continue this in my lyrics, singing, compositions and performance. Being able to perfectly imitate and sing Chaka Kahn or Billy Holiday, for example, is not that easy.
Both require a combination of spirited vocal technique, text interpretation and above all empathy. I wanted to crawl into their skin, feel their emotions and share them with my audience. I am mainly inspired by powerful, idiosyncratic musicians such as Billy Holiday, Angie Stone, Erikah Badu, Tania Maria, Stan Getz, Lester Young, Alan Walker and Sting. But certainly also by J.S. Bach, Arvo Pärt, Isaac Albéniz and Ludovico Einaudi
After many years of stage experience at home and abroad in various music styles, such as Soul, Jazz, Funk, Brazilian, Cuban, Blues and my own compositions, I now enjoy working with Jur immensely. We bring out the best in each other, we learn a lot from each other's disciplines and above all we have a lot of fun and laughter together. I experience Duo Eclectique as Pleasure, Passion and Deepening!
